What are the coding certifications

Certified medical coder has advantage against other coders. Some of the certifications are CCS, CPC, RHIT, RHIA. You can attempt for CPC after training or with minimal exeriance but for CCS it is better to take the exam after two years of experiance as it is tough exam

Coding certifications are valued by employers and employers prefer certified coders than noncertified

I'm new to the world of Coding & Billing , I'm trying to find a legit Coding program Online which is proving to be rather hard. Is it true After you graduate with a Diploma or Certificate you can sit for the CPC but if you pass you don't get the CPC designation since you don't have 2 years of experience on the job? Instead you get the CPC-A. A for apprentice . I'm seeing Horror stories all over the Internet of people with CCA's and CPC-A's who can't get a job anywhere and have Graduated in some cases 6 years ago.

That really concerns me because I'm not seeing many Coding Jobs in my area. Is it possible to get a job with a CCA or CPC-A ?

Some of the AAPC Medical coding certifications are as follows:-

1. Certified Professional Coder(CPC)
2. Certified Professional Coder-Payer(CPC-P)
3. Certified Professional Coder-Outpatient Hospital(CPC-OH
4. Certfiied ASC Coder (CASCC)

and so on. There are many such coding certifications that are provided by institutions. Students can choose their desired certification course for their career.

AHMA- American Health Information Management Association offers a RHIT certificates to physician who passing the certification exam.
