The future of medical coding looks bright and there will be healty growth in this sector in the comming years both inthe United States and outside United States. In the United States a recent study has shown that then number of patient inthe emergency rooms have tripled and due to ageing baby boomers the demad for medical coders and other helathcare professionals is increasing year on year.

In the middleeast countried like Saudi and Duabai there have recently been increasing implementation of medical coding across the hospitals and insurance companies. Many hospital sin Abu Dhabi are implementing medical reimbursement process similar to that in the United States using ICD and CPT.

Is US the first country implementing medical coding in its hospitals? What are conditions to implement medical coding?

Us is among the first country to implement medical coding system fully. Although medical coding system exists in others countries as well but it is not fully functional system as it is only used for statistical purposes. In the US healthcare industry, the payment of medical bills is largely done by insurance comapnies and hence they require well establised systems to validate and effectively pay the bills. This has led to extensive use of medical coding in the US healthcare industry.
